Bengaluru-based online grocer BigBasket announced that it has acquired local milk delivery app DailyNinja to expand its network further. DailyNinja’s micro delivery business is focused on daily essentials products like milk, bread, eggs, and more.

With this acquisition, BigBasket will have access to around 1.1 lakh customers of DailyNinja and a network of 2,000 milkman partners across India. Bigbasket makes about 1.6 lakh deliveries every day, including fresh fruits and vegetables, bread, dairy, eggs, among other daily essentials.

BigBasket said that its focus is to grow the subscription business to fulfill the recurring consumption needs of customers at low delivery costs. It had earlier acquired milk-delivery startups RainCan, Morning Cart, and a controlling stake in Savis Retail, which made IoT-enabled snack vending machine Kwik24.

DailyNinja currently operates in Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Chennai, Mumbai and Pune and would now have access to BbDaily’s non-milk range.
